Eco commitment
Node Fragas do Cabril Eco & Wellness Lodge, environmental sustainability is our essence. We designed an eco-friendly space, seeking to minimize the impact on the surrounding area and promoting perfect harmony with nature. The construction was intentionally planned to reduce the visual impact and the exterior design seeks to alter the existing flora and fauna as little as possible.
We sought to optimize thermal insulation and the energy supply uses solar panels, ensuring the energy efficiency of existing equipment and respect for the environment.
We have sought to prioritize the reuse of materials and upcycling, and we intend to promote the fight against waste, composting and recycling as guiding principles of our tourist activity, based on a circular economy logic.
We haven't reached all of our eco goals yet, but we know this is the way forward and with your help we will get there.
Construction in harmony with nature
Each bungalow was built on-site, ensuring a natural integration into the surrounding landscape. We used sustainable wood and repurposed the original stone from the old building to make walls and floors. that do not waterproof the soil , We also incorporated green roofs that reinforce the ecological balance. Authentic materials, such as Ceira river stone and mountain schist, enrich the architecture, creating a sustainable refuge in complete harmony with local tradition.
Our green spaces
We want to keep our outdoor area as a meadow, prioritizing native plants and giving bees the opportunity to pollinate in the spring. Choosing not to sow lawns also allows for a green cover that is more resistant to winter frosts and consumes much less water in the summer. We planted some fruit trees, starting a small orchard, and maintained the well as a water reservoir for irrigation, also taking advantage of the rainwater that we collected from the building to the well. Maintaining local biodiversity is a priority for us, so be prepared to see all kinds of insects, frogs, birds, and other examples of local fauna, as we do not use chemical fertilizers or insecticides and prioritize composting.
Environmental and social sustainability
We want to reduce our carbon footprint as much as possible. We have installed solar panels and encourage our customers to consume as little energy and water as possible, to reuse towels, and to use our recycling bins. We also do not offer disposable amenities, but rather bottles that can be refilled as needed, as we strive to use minimal plastic, and we encourage our customers to drink tap water, which comes from a local spring but is properly monitored by official authorities.
We favor local suppliers and producers. Our purchases are made at the market and establishments in the parish of Serpins, always prioritizing regional products. And we make a point of using ARCIL's services, thus helping to improve the lives of citizens with various disabilities, but who are full of the will and energy to be useful to the community.
